The Florida Gators of the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida is one of a very limited list of NCAA athletic programs to boast a national championship in both football and basketball in the same year. The Gators football team grabbed the 2006 Bowl Championship Series title by defeating Ohio State 41-14, while a #3 seeded Gators men’s basketball team knocked off #2 UCLA 73-57 to capture the title 3 months later. The Gators have been the home of many great players including Heisman trophy winning QBs Steve Spurrier, Danny Wuerffel and Tim Tebow and NFL Hall of Famers LB Jack Youngblood and RB Emmitt Smith.
