The Texas Rangers began play in 1961 as the second coming of the Washington Senators (the former team which moved to Minnesota), who played in D.C. until 1971 before moving to their present home in Arlington, Texas. The Rangers have appeared in the playoffs 6 times in its history and earned two American League pennants in consecutive years (2010, 2011). Players that have made it to baseball’s Hall of Fame include Canadian Ferguson Jenkins, pitching great Nolan Ryan, Tom Vandergriff and manager Johnny Oates.
